What Is Concrete Resurfacing?
Concrete resurfacing is a thin layer of new material applied over an existing slab. We use polymer-modified cement overlays and self-levelling toppings, depending on the floor. A skim coat fills pitting and restores a smooth finish. A self-levelling topping can flatten a floor that has low spots, humps, or an old uneven patch.
Once cured, the new surface works like fresh concrete. It can be sealed, or coated with epoxy for a finished floor that is easy to clean.
Signs Your Concrete Needs Resurfacing
Salt damage is the most common reason we resurface floors in Peterborough. Road salt dripping off cars all winter eats away the top of garage slabs and leaves them pitted and flaking. This is called spalling, and it gets worse with every freeze-thaw cycle.
Other signs include a surface that dusts when you sweep, old paint or coatings that are peeling, patches from past repairs that do not match, and floors too rough or uneven to coat. Why Resurface Before You Coat?
A coating is only as smooth as the floor under it. Epoxy follows the surface it is applied to, so pits, dips, and old patches show through the finished floor. On a badly worn slab, resurfacing first gives the coating a flat, sound base to bond to and a better look when it is done.

How Long Does Resurfaced Concrete Last?
A resurfaced floor usually lasts 8 to 15 years or more. With an epoxy or polyaspartic coating on top, it lasts longer, because the coating protects the new surface from salt and wear.
The key is a sound slab underneath and proper grinding before the overlay goes down. We check both before we quote.
What Does Concrete Resurfacing Cost?
Concrete resurfacing usually runs $3 to $7 per square foot, depending on the condition of the floor and the type of topping. An epoxy or polyaspartic coating on top is priced separately.
Resurfacing is almost always cheaper than removing and replacing a slab, and your space is back in use much sooner.
